Choosing a Recording Studio
Will Griffin

These days, studios are more similar in capability than ever before. High-quality recording is now affordable to almost anyone. This makes difference in studios up to three things; the space to record in, the equipment available, and the ears of the engineer.

You want to make sure the studio has a full complement of an excellent board, outboard gear, high quality tape machines and digitizing software, such as ProTools.

A good room can greatly enhance the sound of drums, voices, guitars, anything that is recorded by a microphone. A good microphone helps too, but nothing takes the place of an experienced engineer with good ears.

Choose a studio that makes you feel the most comfortable and meets your recording needs.  Find out what else and who else has recorded there.  Find out who the engineers were.  Certainly look at studios who have recorded projects similar to your own, because this will help you capture the feel, groove, and sound that best showcases your voice and/or your songs.

We are beginning to review some of the top recording studios in Nashville and elsewhere.  You will find some of these rooms, who & what has been cut there, and in some cases the recording fee rates at Recording-Studios.com
